Mary Glenna Hooks
of Little Rock, AR
January 7, 1939 - April 16, 2022
Mary Glenna Hooks, 83, of Little Rock, Arkansas went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home on April 16, 2022.
Glenna was born January 7,1939, to Glenn and Ucilla Bowers. After graduating Little Rock Central High, she worked for Mobile Oil Corporation. Later she graduated from Blaylock Interior Decorating School and worked for years with her husband Robert H. Hooks in residential construction. Glenna also worked thirty four years with the Arkansas Public Service Commission as a receptionist, and then as an Administrative Assistant to the office of the Secretary of the Commission. The last twenty years of her career, she spent in the Consumer Services Office as a complaints investigator. She excelled in her position serving as a mentor and adviser to other investigators. Glenna had many passions and interests. She was an accomplished pianist, harpist, doll maker, seamstress, avid gardener and excellent cook. Glenna was also a lifelong member of the Nazarene Church.
Glenna is survived by her brother Reverend William C. Bowers (Jane), son Robert G. Hooks, son-in-law Paul D. Cook, grandsons Benjamin, Daniel (Jessica), Caleb and granddaughter Lorena Cook and great grandchildren Levi, Gabriel and Lydia Cook. Her love for her family and community was evident in how she cared for others and shared her time to help anyone in need. She always felt fulfilled by her family, and is now hugging her deceased daughter Robin Cook and husband of fifty five years Robert H. Hooks.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and daughter at Pinecrest Cemetery on April 21, 2022. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Roller Chenal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday April 21, 2022, with Pastor Tim Bullington and Rev. Bill Bowers officiating.
As Glenna would always say "This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!" Psalms 118:24.
