THROW BACK THURSDAY - REUNION EARNS AN A+ PLUS CLASS NEWS
I overheard someone say, "if anyone isn't having a wonderful time, it's their own fault". I hope that is true. It certainly lookedto me like everyone was having a ball. Nothing like getting together with childhood friends and sharing the wonderful memoriesof a lifetime. From what I can surmise, the most enjoyed events were the junior high brunches. Everyone bragged on thefood and the fun! Same thing happened with the banquet. Didn't Gwen Shepherd do a wonderful job decorating that room for131 of you? She always comes through! Thank you, thank you, thank you to our Reunion Committee and to all those who stepped in and gave us a hand. Know that you are greatly appreciated! If you just couldn't make it, know that you were missed . . . and probably talked about!!! All good I'm sure! I'll be posting pictures soon. We're already starting to plan for our Birthday Party which will be the last weekend of September 2024. Mark your calendarsnow!!!CLASS NEWSI've tried to answer each text and email, but I'm sure I've failed on a lot of them, so here's "the rest of the story". I had a wonderfultime at the Swing Band concert Thursday night and all day Friday and Friday night visiting with everyone at the Hotel. Then early Saturday morning disaster struck. I got out of bed, moving too fast - imagine that! - my right foot kind of turned on its side and that was that. All of a sudden I could hardly walk. So for the remainder of the weekend I was in bed with my foot iced and elevated. No fun!!! Got into the doctor Monday morning for an x-ray that showed a hairline fracture of a small bone on the right edge of my right foot. (Couldn't be the left foot so I could at least drive! GRRRRRR) So here I am in a boot for they say 8 weeks. I've got all fingers crossed that it won't take that long. I'm already sick of this boot! LOL Anyway, thanks for all the sympathy and well wishes. I appreciate every single one of you!Our sympathy to the family of Patsy Larch who passed away September 6 in Arlington, TX. Her son and daughter-in-law weretaking care of her. Brenda Vocque, her sister, made several trips to Texas to visit Patsy. They remained close through all the years.
Arlington, TX – Patsy Lou Larch Willis Mayhan died peacefully after a courageous battle with a long illness, on September 6, 2022, in Arlington. She was born on September 3, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Pete and Grace (Baldwin) Larch. Patsy was a beloved music teacher in Arlington for many years and was herself a devoted student of music composition and performance. Her home and garden were a sanctuary for her students, who would often visit outside of lessons just to pass the time after school. Her commitment to them fostered passion in these pupils; not only for music, but for the arts and life in general. In addition to teaching young students, Patsy led classes in piano at Tarrant College. She also proudly volunteered with the Cliburn Competition as long as her health permitted. Patsy’s passions extended well beyond music. As an avid collector of fine art, she spent many Sunday afternoons at the Kimball following services at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth where she played the organ. Her collections were not limited to visual art in its many forms, but also antiques and curiosities. Her home was like a museum in many ways as she rotated objects, art, and furniture in and out of prominence. Perhaps most importantly, Patsy loved learning about many cultures and hosted a diverse coterie of university students from throughout the world including Morocco, China, India, France, and England in her home. Patsy once toured England with her devoted traveling companion, Jack Johnson, performing for hospitalized patients and studying at the University of Cambridge. But her favorite city was Paris. And she loved experiencing the sensory delights of the French countryside and the Cote d’Azur. This remarkable, independent, high spirited woman will be greatly missed by her family, students, and many friends. Preceded in death by her daughter, Jill; her parents; and siblings, Judy and Butch. Patsy is survived by her son, James Phillip Willis (Lynn); her grandson, Jeramy Willis (Ariel); and granddaughter, Ellie Willis; her great grandchildren, Jagger, River, and Hazel Willis; her sister Brenda Vocque, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at a later date.
