THROW BACK THURSDAY - GOLDEN MEMORIES PLUS CLASS NEWS
Thank you, Joe Crow, for sending this! I hate to say I don't remember this play, but somehow I don't.
But I bet I loved it in 1956!!! LOL One interesting thing about this. Note at the bottom where it lists
Senior Members of the Swing Band. See any missing name? What about Betty Chandler? Betty says
this wasn't unusual at all. She was the first girl who had ever been in the Swing Band and Ms. Quigley
wouldn't ever let her go on bus trips with the Band and would never list her name with them. Funny thing
is -- notice it says "Accompanist -- Kathryn Sims". Betty doesn't even know who that is. Boy how times
have changed for "us girls", thank goodness!!!!
CLASS NEWS 1956Our deepest sympathy to Penny Hicks and the family in the death of her husband and our classmate and friend,James Voland Jones. Jim was a #1 Navy Guy in every sense of the word. They lived in Virginia Beach, Va. Ivisited a dear friend in VB twice every year and would always call Penny and James for lunch. The last time wegot together, Jim had already been diagnosed with cancer, but he was Penny's complete caregiver. Penny couldnot even walk. How he took care of her, I'll never know. The daughter certainly has her hands full now.
