Hopefully by next week I'll learn how to post multiple pictures a little better. If anyone can
help, please let me know!
1956 CLASS NEWS(Last week's email responses)Marylou, was this a figment of someone’s imagination?? I don’t remember ever being in a chorus line
or in a play called ‘The Judgment Day’ . Maybe my memory has really failed me or else someone is playing
a huge joke. I’ll be anxious to hear what others say.
From Jane Johnston Smith
ML - You are not alone. I do not remember the production from last week either, but i sure had a lot of
friends in it. Sorry to hear about James V. Jones death. He was in our Boy Scout Troop at Highland
Methodist Church and he and I were both Order of the Arrow members and Eagle Scouts, together
with Larry Carlson, Brian Eagle and I used to camp with James in the woods north of this family's
country home west of town out on the old 12th Street Pike. Lots of "Golden Memories" from "the days
of our Youth." Gary Frederick
Missing senior members of Swing Band that I can remember: Jeanne Muse, vocalist; Bill Goodman, trumpet;
Johnny Burnett, stage manager and MC. The trip to New Orleans was by train and the Swing Band played at the
Blue Room at the Roosevelt Hotel. Upon graduation, Mrs Quigley gave each member a $100 scholarship
I was allowed to go on bus trips within the State of Arkansas and Memphis...just not allowed to go to New Orleans and play
at that famous hotel, because no entertainers (female vocalists and dancers) were allowed. I think Roger Simonson (not a
jazz or popular music piano player, more classical) went along to cover the piano chart. Helena Quigley did give me that gold
"pendant" as a peace offering...but it never made up for the fact that I worked my buns off for that band all three years, only to
be shut out of the biggest reward ever !!! I don't understand that program AT ALL !!! I don't think it was altogether a play, more
of a talent show...which is even more confusing...where were the Stardusters, i.e., and Bill Dedman (along with others left off the
Swing Band roster) and I were in the same class. Doesn't make a dab of sense to me. Betty Chandler

News from Pat “Mullens”. I have become all but a recluse, and apologize that I rarely communicate. I live in Mankato,
KS. Have been here for 24 years. Rarely have time for FB or Email. It is nice to know I am remembered and very
kind of you to care. A month or so ago I visited with Syd Orton, and recently received a sweet card from my special
friend Diann Perrier Northern. My snail mail address is: 311 South Commercial St., Mankato, Kansas 66956. Email
address is: landofahs@nckcn.com though I almost never read my email. Very little time for leisure or the phone.
Thanks, for the pictures Mary Lou! We have changed no doubt but I still recognize us. Love to all who know
me and to those who don’t. -- Go Tigers! Hail to the Old Gold! Thanks, for the memories.... Pat Mullens Alcorn
