THROW BACK THURSDAY - FRANKE'S AND COMMENTS FROM LAST WEEK
PLUS CLASS NEWS
Here's a really old picture taken of the bakery at Franke's. Anyone have any idea about when and
where? I'm guessing the downtown location, but I don't remembere that big picture-type window.
Looks like it was Valentine's Day!
Responses to last week's story of the Pfeifer's Cohn's and Phillips':Families and Stores:
I love your TBT’s! If I remember correctly Raida Pfeifer was Susan Pfeifer’s mother. Susan was in our class.
The three situations you ended with were wonderful!!
JANE BROCKMAN Briggs
Loved the Arkansas wife! BETTY CHANDLER Ward
What a treasure! Thank you for sharing this. Diana Vinson Hall
So interesting! Even though Mother worked at Pfeifer’s, I never heard of this family connection between the two rivals.
I wish I could go back to 1953 in a Time Machine and experience downtown Little Rock once again! It would probably
look quite dated. Thanks!
BARBARA WELTON McDonald
I think that house had a beautiful pink Christmas tree one year. I always wanted one, but never had one. Fun memory
BETTY LOU "BETSY" WRIGHT Dobbs
Thanks. Good history of distant cousins and great work by current cousins Jim and Don and good friend Bick
GENE PFEIFER ('55)
This is a wonderful story for everyone who attended Little Rock Central High School.
GILBERT RAINEY ('55)
Loved these stories! I worked in Advertising department at Blass after I left Ole Miss. there was still a great 3 way
competition in the 50’s. Miss department stores so much!
BETTY WEISS Stokes ('55)
Thanks, as always.
Pfeifer's, I think, had a wonderful restaurant in the basement named 'Tom and Andrew's'. I 16remember entering
it from Capitol Ave rather than Main Street. In the summer after I turned 16, I was down the street selling shoes
at McCann's. DON MANES ('54)
