THROW BACK THURSDAY THURSDAY JUNE 22, 2023
Am I the only one who still misses "FULL SERVICE"? And everyone seems to remember "their
filling station" . . . and even the one their parents used.
1956 CLASS NEWS
ML ,I gotta tell you this story about the krystal hamburger place in LR.
Way back Ralph Newkirk and I were driving around LR late at night many years ago and decided to stop at the Krystal for a late night meal.
We walked in and seated ourselves and a young lady asked what we wanted. We said we could eat a dozen of those hamburgers.
She said you eat 12 of them and I will pay for them. We said bring them on. We'll I ate 11 and was so stuffed Ralph told me he could eat my #12 and he did. We walked out of that Krystal so full we couldn't have eaten anything. So, the young lady paid our tab and just shook her head.
She didn't think we could eat 12 of those burgers each. Those Burgers were soooo good. I still look for a Krystal when I travel.
You can share this if you want.

Marylou, I think that I was addicted to Krystal Burgers. There was a Krystal Burger shop in Forrest City that I would stop to get my "fix."
I ALWAYS went out of my way when traveling through Memphis in order to get a half dozen (minimum) I remember the one on Capital Avenue and there was one on Geyer Springs Rd and on East Broadway in NLR after the downtown Little Rock shop closed. I miss them.
Sometimes I get the frozen White Castle package but they ain't the same. They're just a teaser..

I recall another cheap hamburger place( around 5th or 6th and Broadway ) ??? and think it was called “Buy ‘em By the Sack ( ??)
Hope to still be around for the ‘b.d. party in ’84 etc.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LYNN HANSEN'
I went to see Lynn in Dallas in March. We had a wonderful visit although too brief. We have been friends for almost 80 years & this was the first time we had been together in over a year. She is doing well but misses her LR friends.
Clara Dean Stoddard
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LES GRADY who lives in the beautiful Shenandoah valley in Harrisonburg, VA, with his wife. They are ardent gardeners.
Today we bid goodbye to our wonderful home we have loved for over 28 years. We leave with bittersweet feelings; hating to leave friends and neighbors and the best neighborhood in LR. We will stay in touch; in the Berkshires for the summer and then in a downsized quarters, an apartment, back home in LR in the fall.
Joe and Ginnie Crow
I will share their new address when it is a "done deal".

This is why all other Classes are jealous of us, of how we stick together. Bill Hedges family had two services for Bill -- one in Little Rock followed the next day by a service in Quitman, TX, where he lived for years. Seven Classmates attended his service in Little Rock which was held on Father's Day. Seven was a nice surprise because of the Holiday. Quitman, TX is between Dallas and Shreveport, LA.
Jan Nix lives in Dallas. She hired a driver because of the distance to Quitman and attended Bill's Quitman funeral. Thank you for representing us in Texas, Jan!
