1956 CLASS NEWS

 

Our condolences to the family of Nancy Deese Bowers, who passed away December 12, 2002.  Nancy actually graduated in 1955 after Jess Matthews allowed her to move up one year in January.  However, she always felt a part of both classes and attended both the 1955 and 1956 Reunions.

 

Nancy Irene Conrad Rankin Slipped away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Nancy was born in Newport, AR and grew up in Little Rock. She stayed close to a tight knit group of friends throughout her life. She started singing at a young age and even had a part in a radio show when she was in her early teens. She continued entertaining with her beautiful soprano voice for most of her life.  Nancy married Bob on February 14, 1960.  Bringing up two children. Tracey and Scott.  Grandchildren; Andrew Maxfield, Madison (husband Reece) Worley, And Kenlee Rankin.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents and her brother, Bill.

A memorial service to be held on Saturday, November 18th at 10am in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO

 




 



Obituary for Mr George Hebling III

George Hebling III passed away on February 2, 2023, at his home in Foley, AL. He graduated from Little Rock High School in 1956, received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and master’s degree from University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana. He retired from USAF and retired from Defense Contract Management Agency as Production and Engineering Chief located in Birmingham, Alabama. He also worked as a realtor in the Foley area after his retirement.  Mr. Hebling is survived by his wife Louise and daughter Debra Ann, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Jr. and Mary Evelyn Hebling and brother Jerry Hebling.



 

Marylin "Jenelle" Meador Lawhon, age 70, of Alexander, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2009. Jenelle was a 1957 graduate of Central High School. She attended Capital Business College before going to work at the Pentagon. She retired after 25 years of service with the Arkansas State Chamber AIA.

Jenelle was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd "Pop" Meador, and mother Edna "Nan" Ratcliffe. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Don Lawhon; two sons, Jim Massa and wife Cindy of Greenbrier, Mike Massa of Hot Springs; one stepson, Kenneth Ard of Pine Bluff; stepfather, Cummins Ratcliffe of Hot Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the funeral home with Pastor W.C. Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th St, Little Rock, AR 72204 or the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Ave, Little Rock, AR 72207. [From Griffin-Leggett (Forest Hills) online obituary]



We have now mailed out the registration forms and info flyers concerning our 85th Birthday Party to be held next April 19 and 20, 2023.  Be on the lookout for yours.    The last batch was mailed last night.

Charlotte Jones has moved in with her daughter in Southwest LR.  She has been having dizzy spells and didn’t need to live alone any longer.  She plans to attend the girls’ monthly luncheons at Izzy’s.

Joe Harbour moved a couple of years ago, but we just caught up with him in Keene, TX.  Unfortunately his wife, Joy, passed away early this year.  He would love to hear from some of you.  Hit REPLY for his address and phone number.

Mattie Nichols didn’t do well with the COVID shot.  She suffered two strokes, but says she is doing well now.
