THROW BACK THURSDAY - LOTS OF NEWS

1956 CLASS NEWS

Cecilia Autry  -  Cil lives in California where she fell a couple of days before her scheduled flight to Little Rock for our Class Party.

She didn't want to miss the party and decided she was OK to travel.  Turns out that wasn't so.  She was only able to attend our dinner the

first night, Friday, April 19.  She missed the Saturday festivities and remained in her room at the Hotel.  This past Saturday she called an

ambulance and was admitted at St. Vincent's.  From there she was sent to St. Vincent Rehab in Sherwood, AR, where she is today.  She

has a broken vertebrae.  Her cell phone is not working.  Ben and Syd are trying to help.  However, you can reach her by phone. by calling

(501) 834-1800 and asking for Room 234.  I'm sure she would love to have some calls and even visits if you are local.  St. Vincent Rehab

is just past the NLR shopping center at the Sherwood exit.

NANCY BOSTIC AND JIM DIFFEE  -  Message I received the weekend before our party.  "ML. We’ve been struggling with

this for several weeks. We’re going to have to cancel our trip to LR. I HAVE degenerative discs in my neck along with 3 misaligned vertebrae

and arthritis. I have pinched nerves and a lot of pain. Scheduled a cervical nerve block in Memphis Tuesday. Hope I get some relief from that.

Nancy has inflammation and tendonitis in both arms. She’s in a lot of pain and can’t use either arm. So far she’s had steroid shots, pain meds

and physical therapy 3 times a week. Oh, and she has arthritis. Sorry that we’ll miss seeing you all."

Updated message from last Tuesday:  "I've had the 2nd Median Branch Block on my neck and a Cervical Nerve Ablation is the next step.

Hope it works.  Nancy has MRI scheduled for tomorrow and appointment with Orthopedic doc is Thursday.  Hope we can get to the bottom

of what's going on with her."

Updated today.  We just left Orthopedic clinic. MRI no rotator cuff damage but fluid buildup and impingement in the bursa. Gave her shot of cortisone in both

shoulders and we hope it stops the pain. My cervical nerve ablation is scheduled for May 14. We have both been so blessed with good health

all these years.

Frank Plegge - On Monday following our weekend of parties, Joe and Ginnie Crow, Mooser and Nancy Long and yours truly met Bill and Suzanne

Harman at Frank Plegge's home in Newport.  We took him a "goodie basket" of Class birthday presents, like the notebook, pen and coffee cup, and

Kirk Tompkins book.  Frank's physical condition would not allow him to attend our Class Birthday Party.  Fortunately for Frank, he has a guardian angel,

his son, Cliff, who allows him to stay at home.  We played the two videos for him from Friday and Saturday night.  It was fun for all of us to see it again.

Frank went into the hospital the next day and successfully received a new knee.  He is home now recovering.

Dan Stowers  -  Dan has had a fall and is in the Baptist Hospital on the 7th Floor

John Van Wert  -  John is Jo Lynn Hill's husband.  They live in Vienna, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C.  First of all, John was such a big

help while they were at the Delta West Hotel attending our Class Party.  The attorney I work with loaned me/us a 3 story tall blow up Tiger!

It had to be blown up each morning and deflated each evening.  John and Scott Minton, Gwen Shepherd's "main squeeze", took on the

assignment without even being asked.  THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU!   Now back to John.  Saturday, April 20, Jo Lynn took John to the ER Heart

hospital and they had to miss the dinner that night.  Then when John and Jo Lynn left Little Rock on Monday, April 22, they drove to Dallas to visit

John's sister.  While in Dallas, they made two ER vists on Monday and Tuesday.  Turned out he had a bladder infection.  So on Friday, they

took off for the long drive back to Virginia with John in a couple of hospital gowns, one open in the back and one open in the front. I'm glad to report

that they made it home and Jo Lynn is busy making doctor appointments to get John's problems taken care of.  They are always so loyal to attend

every Class party!

RAY ALEXANDER'S DEATH  -  As most of you know, Ray and Charlotte Alexander's daughter, Corey, shot and killed Ray two

years ago.  She also shot her Mother five times, but she survived after many, many operations.  Corey has been sitting in the Little Rock

jail since that day.  Finally there was a trial and she was convicted.  The sentence was 40 years for the murder and 10 years for the assault

on her Mother.  She will be eligible for parole in 23 years.  There is to be no contact with the family ever, at their request.  The "family" left is

Charlotte and the son, Bryce, who is lucky to be alive.  After Corey killed Ray and tried to kill Charlotte, she got in Charlotte's car and drove

to her brother, Bryce's home, where she intended to kill him.  Fortunately he was dealing with a barking dog and didn't get to the front door

before she drove off.

Mary Bowden  -  Mary lives in Fort Smith and is married to Dr. Taylor Prewitt who has written a book, The History of Medicine in Ft. Smith,

Arkansas.  It just so happens that he was having a book signing in Little Rock on Thursday night, April 18, just before the start of our Class

Party.  Several of us went to Words Worth Bookstore that night to see Mary, who looks wonderful.  She and her husband were not able to

stay for the party because he was also having a book signing in Fort Smith the next night, Friday, April 19.

Sylvia Campbell  -  Sylvia lives in a retirement center in Hot Springs.  She is wheelchair bound due to a stroke that paralyzed her left side.

However, she doesn't let that get her down.  Another lady who is wheelchair bound and lives in the same center has a van equipped for

wheelchairs, including her own while she is driving.  About 30 of us got together for lunch with Sylvia in the lobby restaurant of the Delta West

Hotel.  She looked wonderful.  Once she was here we learned that she had just been released from the hospital in Hot Springs following a

fall.  Again, like Cil, she wasn't going to let that stop her.  Her wonderful sister-in-law, Mary Ann Campbell, made all of the arrangements so

Sylvia could attend the luncheon.

MY SUNGLASSES - OK, a personal post.  You know how it is when you finally find those PERFECT SUNGLASSES or

to see them laying around and were kind enough to pick them up, PLEASE let me know!!!  I'll give you a reward -- like a big

hug and a bottle of your favorite wine.  (On the wine, remember the glasses only cost $10!)

1955 CLASS NEWS

she does not know how long she will be there.
