THROW BACK THURSDAY - MY SWEETHEART
So sorry about the last two weeks. I think by now many of you know that I was spending the last days of my husband's life caring for him. All of Igor's problems started right before our last Reunion when he fell down our very steep Little Rock driveway trying to handle the garbage can that was as tall as he was. It won. That incident seemed to take away his confidence. From then on, he was always afraid he was going to fall. That caused his world to become smaller and smaller until he ended up with legs that could hardly hold him and then he started passing out when he would try to walk. Being bed bound I guess is about the worse thing that can happen to you. The last month of his life he spent in a hospital bed in our living room. I was able to keep him there until the last two nights of his life. He passed away on the hospice floor of the Little Rock VA Hospital while I was holding his hand and talking to him. Everything was very peaceful.
I received an email from Wally Hall shortly after Igor's death (thanks to Bob deBin and Ed Daniel IV) asking me for some information on Igor's life. Wally had known Borys, but never spent much time around Igor. The result of our conversation is contained in the attached article which appeared on the front page of the Sports section of the Sunday Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Both Igor and Borys would have been very pleased with the article.
I am also attaching Igor's obituary. If it doesn't come through correctly, you can always get it by going to this link: www.cremationservicesofarkansas.com
My heartfelt thanks for all of the calls, texts, emails, FBook messages, cards, flowers, etc. from so many of you. Every single one meant the world to me and I know Igor is smiling down. I was one lucky girl to have been loved and married to such a humble, kind, loving and honorable man. He certainly loved all of you.
