THROW BACK THURSDAY - CANTON TEA GARDEN PLUS CLASS NEWS

I don't think I was ever in the Canton Tea Garden  that once occupied a storefront at 211 Main Street and later 921 West Capitol in Little Rock.    What about you?

Seeing these cars remindS me of Patsy Tabor's teeny tiny Nash Rambler.  It was amazing how many girls could get into that car at one time!

Our condolences to Hardene Kellensworth in the death of her husband, Dan Colclasure, Hot Springs.

I remember the old ice house at 12th and Oak streets - catty-cornered across from the Lee School girl's playground. As a young man, before he married Mom, my Dad delivered ice from that location in a mule-pulled wagon. In my childhood, we always went there to fill ice chests before large-group picnics; or to take to the dugout of Dad’s city league baseball team when they played at Lamar Porter Field. Before picking up the ice, we always went to the “full service” gas station immediately across 12th street to get gassed up and to get our tires and oil checked and windows washed.

Now that I’m in my "second childhood," those are fond-memories from my first - a bygone era  -

We’ve come a long way from ice houses to AI and from Roy Rogers to Luke Skywalker.

Geez … we always had electricity and a refrigerator!  They weren’t to big but they made ice and kept milk and eggs cold.  My grandma, tho, lived up in Hackett and she didn’t have electricity and she had an icebox.  I think they went someplace to get ice.  Fun memories!

Thank you, Mary Lou, for doing this, I always look forward to reading your Throw Backs.  I think I missed a lot of fun times when I was sneaking out to Blue Hole to swim, against my mothers advice of course.  Keep up your good work.  Pat and I celebrated our 64th on June 29th,  really can’t believe we are so old.

Granoff's was a really "up town" restaurant in Little Rock that many of you visited a few times after graduation.

I hear that they had a famous dressing.  Today's your lucky day . . . someone sent it:

GRANOFF'S DRESSING

1/2 quart Hellman's mayo

1 bottle Kraft French Dressing

1 Tablespon dried minced garlic

Blu Cheese crumbles

Refrigerate overnight.

Guess you'd have to wait for a holiday or family reunion to make it in this quantity, but if anyone decides to give it a try,

let us know how it is!
