THROW BACK THURSDAY - CAN YOU HELP???? PLUS CLASS NEWS
This posting that appeared on FB this week is very timely. In the near future I will be alerting you to a new group
that is forming to help get some winning football teams back to Central and to help all Central High sports teams.
If you can, please help the girl's WINNING basketball team below.
"As many of us know, Little Rock Central had a historic year on the hardwood this year, winning the basketball
state championship in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions. We celebrated properly at the State Capitol last month,
a real highlight for me.
I come to you today to ask for your help in celebrating the girls’ state championship. The players and coaches of
both teams deserve rings to commemorate their championship. The funding for the boys’ rings came together
(privately, the school has done all it can do) quickly. The funding for the girls’ rings has not come through.
We still need to raise more than $6,000 for the girls’ rings. It’s not right for them to not get their rings!
They deserve their rings as much as the boys do. We can pull together to make this happen. Please pitch in
what you can at this link: https://www.paypal.com/donate/...
Congrats again to both the girls and boys state championship teams! Our community loves and supports you both!

Ed Stebbins brother, T. L., gave me an update on Ed last week. Ed is still living in a lovely cottage
on the Teste River in England. T. L. says Ed is showing some signs of dementia. Unfortunately he lost his
wife just two weeks ago. Joe and Ginnie Crow had actually visited with Ed and Sally at their cottage
several years ago and always talked about what a beautiful setting it was.
Our sympathy to Carolyn Cubbins in the untimely loss of her Grandson.
I received an update on all of our Houston classmates but Delrena Conner (I'll have to call her) concerning
the terrible weather Houston has been having. Fortunately all of them live North of Houston and the bad
weather hit South of Houston. So all is well with Lynda Dixon, Joyce Fuller and Iris Johnson.
This past weekend Judy Callaway, Midge Brown and I took a "Girls' Trip" to Bentonville and Rogers to
visit Maydra Ray. What fun we had! We also saw Edna Haley, who has lived there for over 60 years,
and on the way home we stopped in Russellville and see Bill Harmon and get one last Whatta Burger from
Felner's. It was a perfect weekend. If you haven't gotten some girlfriends together and had a weekend trip, try it
sometime!
The AR Jazz Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is coming up Monday, June 17.
Attached is a Registration form. I hope many of you can attend and support our own Betty Chandler
who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame! It will be held at the Old Statehouse on West Markham downtown next
to Robinson Auditorium. Betty's Swing Band Reunion will be playing along with her combo and a couple more
jazz combos. Hope you can join us. Thanks to Nikki Polychron for the help!
