THROW BACK THURSDAY - A SOLDIER'S STORY plus Class News
Am I the only one in the world who knew nothing about this???????
A Soldier's Story was shot entirely in Arkansas. The baseball sequence was filmed in Little Rock at the historic Lamar Porter Field. Bill Clinton helped by providing the Arkansas Army National Guard in full regalia for a grand scene. Circa 1984.
CLASS NEWS:
Johnny Bagby - Johnny fell on August 9, broke his hip and has been in the hospital and in rehab ever since. Finally Marilyn was able to bring him home early this week. I know they are both thankful for that!
James Voland Jones and Penny Hicks Jones - I think many of you already know that Jim and Penny have lived many places around the World while he was serving as Career Navy. When he retired, they settled in Virginia Beach, VA and he has been in the Real Estate business until earlier this year when he retired to take care of Penny, who has had several health problems. Below is an email I received from him this morning.
Greetings All. FYI -The last few days Penny was experiencing signs of cellulitis and swelling of her right leg and the wound reappeared on the bottom of her right foot. Yesterday we did get an emergency consult with her foot specialist and he put her right leg in an immobilization cast ,took cultures from the foot wound and sent us to VB General hospital for care. On the way to the hospital a young man came out of a drive way in a small ford SUV and ran into the passengers side of our car as we passed.(scrapping T bone) Both right doors were seriously damaged and EMT personnel had to cut both doors off so Penny could get out ,cast and all. Bags did not deploy and we were not hurt. EMT took Penny to the hospital and police gave me a ride. Penny was admitted for the infection and treatment is in progress. She is in good spirits. I got a rental car and will be clearing personal property out of the trunk this AM before storm hits. I am sure the car will be a total. Really liked my Nissan Maxima. Penny is in VB general room 312. Phone 757-395-8312. Bad experience but much to be thankful for. God is good!
